Mar Institute of Medical Research Foundation

The IMIM Foundation is a public entity created in 1992 which is responsible for managing the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM), a Health Research Institute accreditated by Carlos III Health Institute, up to 82%, made up of research groups lead by professionals from the MAR Health Park , most of whom are associates of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), as well as other seconded staff members from the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL), the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences of the Pompeu Fabra University (DCEXS-UPF), the Centre of Regenerative Medicine in Barcelona (CMRB) and the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB).

The main roles of the Foundation include managing and monitoring research projects and grant requests, promoting quality research, ensuring the observance of ethical principles of professional practice, disseminating the results of research activities, and encouraging specialized teaching and continuous training by and for professionals in the field of Health Sciences.

The IMIM Foundation is responsible for managing the Institute’s resources, and plays an especially relevant role in managing European projects, services abroad and grants for research projects and cooperative research networks from the Carlos III Health Institute.
