Benefits of nutrition in cognitive performance

We are interested at the interplay of nutrition and cognition in different disease conditions (i.e. eating disorders, obesity, genetic and neurodegenerative diseases). Specifically we are interested at biological activities and health benefits provided by dietary polyphenols and the use of nutraceuticals or functional foods derived from these food microconstituents in the therapy different disease conditions.

Within the context of this research line we are developing pleiotropic drugs of dietary origin for the treatment of neural diseases of environmental (cocaine addiction) and/or genetic (Down syndrome, Fragile X) origin. We are also interested at the pathways in biological systems regulating the interaction between nutrition and the central nervous system.
