The structure of the lines of research is based on the subspecialties that make up modern Cardiology, including four areas of knowledge:
1. Coronary disease
2. Heart rhythm disorders
3. Valvular heart disease
4. Myocardial infarction (cardiomyopathy and heart failure)
Research projects are being carried out to deepen the knowledge on epidemiological, genetic and phenotypic aspects, physiopathological mechanisms and therapeutic options in each of these areas. Furthermore, three cross-sectional lines of research have been designed which address each of the four above-mentioned areas, ranging from the most basic aspects of the mechanisms of the disease to the transferring of knowledge on the processes of managing the disease and on important health objectives for the system and for the patient.
