Vanesa Nogales Trallero is the Deputy Director of the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM). She graduated in Biochemistry from the University of Córdoba in 2001. She completed a Master's degree in Translational Medicine at the University of Barcelona and received her PhD in Biomedicine from the same university in 2016. In 2019, she participated in the Senior Management Programme for Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer, Business Administration and Management at IESE Business School.

Her doctoral studies were carried out within the Cancer Epigenetics and Biology Programme at IDIBELL, led by Dr. Manel Esteller, on epigenetic biomarkers predictive of response to anti-tumour therapy. In 2016, she took part in the MOEBIO Design Health Barcelona programme, BIOCAT - UB. This programme combines academic training and real experiences in the healthcare business as an educational incubator for leaders, using innovation to connect healthcare, business, technology and design at a new and previously unknown level. From 2017 to 2020 she has been the Deputy Scientific Director of CIBERONC, a national network funded by ISCIII, which has more than 700 members distributed across 50 clinical and translational oncology research groups.
