Hospital del Mar and its research institute strengthen their presence in Stanford University's World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking

In the latest edition of the ranking, which has just been published, 41 researchers who have worked at Hospital del Mar are listed. This is the highest number achieved so far.

The World's Top 2% Scientists ranking, compiled by Stanford University, places 41 researchers from Hospital del Mar and its Research Institute among the most influential in the world. The list highlights the most cited scientists across various disciplines, divided into 22 fields of knowledge and 174 subfields. It includes 100,000 individuals, representing the top 2% of all scientists worldwide, out of more than 8 million active professionals in science.

In fact, the ranking consists of two lists. One considers the entire career of researchers based on citations in scientific journals. The second focuses on data from the most recent years.

Both lists in the newly published ranking include Mar Albà, Joan Albanell, Jordi Alonso, Francisco Álvarez Lerma, Joaquín Arribas, Esther Barreiro, Miguel Caínzos, and Francesc Colom. Also included are Rafael de la Torre, Adolfo Díez Pérez, Roberto Elosua, Montse Ferrer and Montse Fitó. Antonio García de Herreros, Joaquim Gea, Ana Giménez-Arnau, and Luis Grande also appear in the lists.

Among the most cited scientists are also Juan Pablo Horcajada, Jaume Marrugat, Álvaro Martínez, Jordi Mestres, Julio Pascual, Juan Pedro-Botet, Manuel Pera, Luis Pérez Jurado, Miquel Porta, Óscar Pozo, and Jesús Pujol. Finally, Jaume Roquer, Aleix Sala-Vila, Helmut Schröder, Jordi Segura, Antoni Sitges-Serra, Marc Suárez Calvet, Marta Torrens, and Jordi Vallés are also ranked.

In shared groups with other institutions are Mara Dierssen, Laura Furlong, Fernando García Benavides, Manuel Pastor, and Ferran Sanz.
