Dr. Marta Torrens will be part of the scientific committee of the European Union Agency on Drugs.

The Emeritus Director of Addictions of the Mental Health Institute of the Hospital del Mar and researcher of her research institute, has been selected to be part of the group of experts advising this new agency, heir of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction.

Dr. Marta Torrens, Emeritus Director of Addictions of the Mental Health Institute of the Hospital del Mar and researcher of her research institute, has been selected by the executive committee of the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA), to be part of its scientific committee. The decision was made on July 4 and Dr. Torrens will be one of the agency's advisors for the next four years.

The scientific committee's job is to safeguard the scientific integrity of the EUDA, and to provide support in its efforts to ensure the highest scientific quality in its products and services. It also plays a central role in the implementation of European legislation on the early warning system and risk management of new psychoactive substances.

The European Union Agency for Drugs and Drug Addiction is the successor of the former European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, with enhanced capabilities and responsibilities.
