The European Opiate Addiction Treatment Association awards Dr. Francina Fonseca for her career.

She has received the EUROPAD "Chimera" Award at the congress held by the organization in Lisbon, Portugal. This recognizes her commitment to fighting addictions and supporting individuals with drug dependence.

Dr. Francina Fonseca, director of the Addiction Process at the Mental Health Institute of Hospital del Mar, has received the EUROPAD "Chimera" Award, The Alessandro Tagliamonte Award, at the 16th Congress of the European Opiate Addiction Treatment Association, held from June 28 to 30 in Lisbon. This award recognizes Dr. Fonseca's work in overcoming drug addiction and her commitment to patients with addiction, a true chimera, a mythological monster, but also a dream to pursue, as the addiction leader at Hospital del Mar does, which gives the award its name.

In this way, she becomes the third professional from the country to receive this award. Notably, another recipient of this recognition is Dr. Marta Torrens, whom Dr. Fonseca succeeded in the leadership of addiction treatment at Hospital del Mar.

At the same congress, a study presented by the CAS Barceloneta team from the Mental Health Institute of Hospital del Mar received the Luca Rovai Award for the best research poster. The award-winning study focused on patients undergoing treatment at the center for fentanyl addiction, the majority of whom are women with concomitant depression and pain disorders related to neuropathic pain and fibromyalgia.
