The Human Resources director is Maria Merino. The mission of the Human Resources Department is to provide a service to the institute for all projects and policies related to the development, planning and organisation of people, while promoting equal opportunities and a balance between the professional and personal lives of all its members.
The HR Department is in direct contact with the institute's various stakeholders and provides human resources planning, guarantees compliance with the different regulations applicable, and is responsible for selection and recruitment processes, payments, the statistics service, and several other areas.
The services offered by the Human Resources Department are:
- Personnel and labour relations: the services offered by human resources include advisory services, regulatory monitoring, recruitment procedures, payroll preparation, development of the annual budget, certifications, grant justifications, the working calendar and the execution of this.
- Personnel development: the human resources department designs the policies for personnel selection, training and development. It prepares the various job descriptions, ensures compliance with the applicable regulations, designs and implements the selection and recruitment policy, and draws up contracts for the institute. It also develops and monitors the Equality Plan and the European Strategy for Researchers in the European Union (HRS4R).
- Training: HR analyses the institute's training needs and prepares a corresponding training offer that responds to the needs detected.
- Welcome, incorporation and leaving procedures: HR offers a personalised support service for new staff members. This covers all the matters deriving from the incorporation, integration and termination of their working relationship with the institute.
- Prevention of Occupational Risks: the Prevention of Occupational Risks service organises activities and draws up measures aimed at avoiding or reducing health risks derived from work, as well as promoting the health of workers. Its main tasks are prevention and health monitoring.
